NEW! (7-9-2002) Thanks to the new job and the 26 mile commute The Delta Focus is now pushing 15,000 miles. Other new news, I have started up a message board for Focus owners in Southern California (and Canada (long story)). The Impetus for creating the board was a severe crack down over on Focaljet that threatened to kill the SoCal spirit. I invite ou to check out Team-SoCal today!  Speaking of Focaljet, due to a personal disagreement with the owner of the site I have not only been removed as moderator of the SoCal forum there but I am as of this writing banned from the board altogether. I'm not going to get into the specifics of the incident(s) leading up to this publically, to do so would be inappropriate and most importantly jeapordize my being right. If you wish to know the whole saga contact me privately. I wish no ill upon Focaljet or the mebership of the board. It still is without a doubt the most comprehensive and significant Focus site in existence. Should I become un-banned I will return but by days of hardcore support and defense of Focaljet are over. (4-16-2002) The Delta Focus recently went over 10,000 miles, this is due in no small part to my new job and my commute going from 2 Miles each way to 26 miles each way. I guess I am glad I didn't end up getting the low miles - long timeframe extended warranty/ For my 10k Oil Change I switched to Mobil-1 Synthetic oil and figure I can safely extend my oil change interval to 5k miles using this. (12-11-2001) I have added several new pictures of the Focus to the Photos section. (12-05-2001) Some new news, I have become a member of a brand new car club called Team Slow, there are actually some quite fast cars in Team Slow (mine not being one of them), the name is designed to poke fun at all the car "crews" who have "speed", "velocty" or "racing" in their name. This is a nationwide (soon to be worldwide) club open to all types of cars and their drivers. I also added a link to Focus Club International (8-6-2001) I removed the link to ClubSi until Jason aka SiRacer is re-instated as webmaster (7-20-2001) I made a couple changed to the links graphics. I also have been working on compiling the ultimate Kona Focus Gallery, I have a preview of it on a thread over on Club-Focus. Later I intend to create a separate page off this site to incorporate the pictures. For now click here to see the pictures on Club-Focus (7-12-2001) I made some changes to the links page, fixing broken and outdated links and adding a couple. (12-27-2000) I have added some new pictures of the car to reflect it current state. I also changed the links section to a completely new format. This is the same format that I am using in my all new, extremely comprehensive "links" page that I hope to have completed soon. (11-02-2000) OK I made a minor changes to this page, I joined a Focus Web ring and added a Home navigation button in case I link directly to that page. If I like the way it turns out I will add one to all of the pages. This page is dedicated to my 2000 Ford Focus ZX3 (Kona Edition) which I have named "The Delta Focus" and to the Ford Focus in general. The Delta Focus is the 5th car I have owned (where I have been the primary driver), some other cars that I have owned:
All of my cars except the Corolla have been 5 speeds, I like a manual transmission MUCH more than an automatic. I tend to prefer small cars to big cars, small car are more nimble, fit into more parking spaces and other tight spots and in general are more fun to drive. I would never drive a Camry or Accord because they are boats. I bought my Focus on 7-3-2000 from Galpin Ford, I had been looking at the Focus, along with the Civic and New Beetle for some time, I initially was inclined against the focus due to my previous experience with my Escort and especially the fast that it was in it's first year of production. My opinion changed dramatically when I was travelling and I got a rental Focus, the extra bonus was this rental focus was a 5 speed. I fell in love with the power, responsiveness and handling of the car. I decided that I was leaning towards the Focus after all but I would wait until the 2001 model year to avoid any "first year" production problems Towards the end of June my Geo got slammed into by a Mercedes who was driving fast and not looking where they were going, the Geo was a good car and it served me well for 5 years but I knew that it's first accident would be it's last, it was totaled. Despite the fact that it was a terrible time for us financially and personally, we were forced to buy a car. We were left with a couple of options, we could by a slightly used cheap car and drive it for another 5 years (what we did with the Geo), we could by a decently used better car and hope it lasted 3-5 years, or we could buy a new cheap car. Luckily, the Ford Focus is a cheap car that Isn't made like a cheap car, it has agressive styling, excellent performance and costs thousands less than a comparably equipped Civic or Beetle. the insurance payments on the Focus are also better than either the Civic or Beetle. Originally I was NOT interested in a Kona Edition, I had no need for the bike and other options, unfortunately, the only Foci around that had all the features I wanted (I wanted almost everything) were Kona Editions. I have to admit, the Kona Edition has grown on me and I really like the looks of it, especially the 16" wheels which make the car look and handle better than the standard 15" wheels of the ZX3. Right now I have just a few pictures of my Focus from when it was brand new, I have since tinted the windows and removed the "Focus and ZX3" emblems from the rear, as well as adding small Focaljet stickers the the rear and rear side windows. I hope to take some fresh pictures of the car soon to update this page. I am very active on Focaljet, I am also active on Club-Focus and ClubSI, in addition to that I am a member of several Focus Clubs on Yahoo! Here are some photos of my Focus:
